Automatic import from Marvelous Designer to uDraper

This article describes a new method of importing clothes from Marvelous Designer to Unreal Engine by automating many steps described in this article.

  1. Keep your MD project that you prepared in the previous step open. If you have multiple displays, keep the MD window open in the main display.

  2. Prepare your character with Draper simulation components in UE scene (level) or Blueprint (see Setting up simulation components).

  3. In the Draper Garment component, click the MD button.

  4. Specify a folder where you want to save exported and imported files and a file name for the exported OBJ file.

  5. Wait for the program to automatically import the MD garment.
    • While waiting for the import process to finish, it is safer to avoid performing other heavy task on your computer to avoid timeouts.
    • If the imported process gets stuck on the UV map, try this workaround: https://youtu.be/M_QsP3JPPt0
      1. Click elsewhere in the UV map window.
      2. Right click to invoke a pop-up menu.
      3. The import program should detect the menu and continue.
